Come discover Dunkirk...

With its seaside resorts, one of the most important ports in France, a famous carnival, and much more... Dunkirk welcomes many tourists every year to the wonderful atmosphere and pleasant humour of the North of France.

Close to the five main capitals (Paris, London, Brussels, Amsterdam and Luxembourg), Dunkirk is easily accessible from many places in Europe. All Suites Appart Hôtel Dunkerque is also less than 1 km from Dunkirk train station.

Rated "Family Plus", Dunkirk proves that it can welcome every type of visitor and especially families, offering them adapted facilities and varied activities.

A life focused on the sea.

The port of Dunkirk, the 3rd largest in France, offers you engaging visits to discover magnificent boats and the city’s maritime history. A history that you can find in its museums and organised tours, particularly by boat.

Or if you just want to relax, enjoy this well known seaside resort with its famous beach at Malo-des-Bains. Every year Dunkirk welcomes bathers and water sports lovers (for kite surfing, etc...).

The 15 km of beach that extend from Dunkirk to the Belgian border are framed by 700 hectares of dunes classified as a national Nature Reserve: the Dunes of Flanders. You can go skiing, beach-sailing, windsurfing, kayaking... or simply lay out your towel and rent a kiosk.

Historic sights.

Classed as a Unesco Heritage Site, the Beffroi de Saint Eloi, a bell tower dating from 1440, offers an amazing panorama of the city. This 58m-high tower used to be part of Saint-Eloi Church’s set of 48 bells.

Follow the trail of the privateer Jean Bart, the symbol of the City of Dunkirk. The square bearing his name has a statue of him at its centre, brandishing his sabre to fend off attackers.

A city of traditions.

Among the traditions that attract the crowds is the Dunkirk carnival which is held between January and March. In olden days a festival put on by fisherman before heading off to Iceland for the season, it is now a heaving, masked carnival, with original costumes and regional songs.

In addition to its festivities, Dunkirk also has a long gastronomic tradition. Stop in to see regional artisans to discover their techniques and savour local delicacies, mainly Flemish specialties including chiconettes”, terrines, beers, Flemish waffles...

For a family holiday.

Dunkirk’s “Family Plus” rating confirms its ability to welcome families and offer activities for all. If you love animals, make a detour to the ostrich farm or the zoo. Of if you’re looking for a child-friendly park, Le Kiddy Squat has a 1,300m² playground.
